Upcycling, Recycling, Upcycling Recycled and Recycling Upcycled for Living and Home Decor
Whew! That is some title, huh? I thought that my new found love for upcycling the recycled was a pretty popular topic. It seems to me that upcycling clothes, upcycling decor, and upcycling furniture is about half of what is driving Etsy and Pinterest. Now this is not at ALL statistically proven. But for us Artists, upcycling and recycling is pretty relevant to our day to day worlds. At least it if to mine. There is a reason I love Goodwill. I just keep finding great stuff to incorporate into my art or to sell!
I am not alone. At one time, Etsy featured a top producing Artist who literally trash picked bicycle wheels, converted them and chains into extravagant chandeliers which she proceeded to sell for thousands. Kudos to her for recycling and saving our landfills!
This upcycling blog post is one of many to follow. I am curious, how many of you upcycle? How many of your recycle products into your artwork? How many of you trash pick in the name of art? Upcycle, Recycle or Reuse - in which way do you use these methods to create your work?
I will start. I have been upcycling bikes from our community trash and selling them through a Facebook group. Shhhhh, don't tell anyone. I just hate to see a good bike get dumped in the trash! :) Look forward to all your comments and shares!

10 Artistic Self Concept Builders
I made this list today as a way to encourage myself. Hopefully it will help you too!
Builders
Builders
- Focus on your Strengths.
- Expect to work for what you want most.
- Set limits and work within those limits.
- You do not fail if you don't meet them, but if you over extend you may never reach your goal. These may include time limits, personal achievements, sales goals or organizational limits.
- Make it look easy - People are always amazed at great artwork and say things like, "Wow, that looks so intricate" or "that must have taken so long" or simply "how do you do that?". Often I think, it wasn't that hard! It didn't take me that long!
- Fighting the process won't be beneficial to you and your goals. Don't Fight yourself!
- Own your problems, solve those problems in a creative way that works for your business and life.
- Avoid making the same mistake twice. Don't punish yourself for making a mistake.
- Love your work for what it is - it is a part of you and it is special, deserving your unconditional love. I find myself saying internally: "It isn't that great!" or "You really like it?" or "Well okay, if you think it is good then I guess I like it too!" As Artists we are very intuitive and eager to please. Start by pleasing yourself. You are the one who matters most. If you love your art for what sells, then you steal from your Artistic self concept. Love your work for what it is!

Top 10 Blogging Mistakes
Another Blogger recently posted their top 10 Blogging Pet Peeves.
Being so new to blogging, I am always worried about making mistakes.
Mainly, I want to network and support other artists and bloggers, but I
am not sure how to properly link and so forth. There is so much to
learn about the technology itself that it can feel overwhelming.
Some of the top 10's on the list included having a website all about yourself. (Gulp. Turning Red.) I think that is me.
In an effort to remove myself from this category, I would love to feature a new artist daily on my blog. Your story, your favorite shops (pay it forward), a web link to your site. Please please please, just comment below or send me a convo privately and I would be happy to get your lovely shop and creations posted TODAY. I will be working to develop some criterion in general, but my goal is to support fellow artists and bloggers through networking and promotion. Pictures are welcome!
Hope to hear from you all! ~ Lisa

Craft Show Know How? Tips for us Newbies!
I am just starting my "Art Business" and feel positive that if I could just get people to see my art I would surely get more sales and possibly even a more loyal fan base. So as a newbie, I want to do a "HOLLA": Have you participated in a craft show? What are your suggestions for others?
- How much product should I make?
- Which crafts shows should I select?
- How do you find good craft shows?
- What about larger shows that ask you for pictures when you haven't even done a craft show yet?
- How much should I pay when just starting?
- How do I know it will be worth it - Will I make my money back?
- What do you use for displays?
- How do you package your product?
- What are some cool business card/branding ideas?
These are all questions I have, so I suspect others have them as well! If you are experienced and have done some craft shows, please please please - leave a comment with your wisdom! Thank you!

Craft Business Thank You Cards
Uniquely designed handmade artistic "Thank You" cards that fold into a star are a great way to shower your craft shoppers with appreciation for their purchase! Each card is stamped with a Thank You sentiment on the back and then embellished with a hand cut flower. Once opened, the card is triangular in shape and stamped with the corresponding sentiment "For Your Business". There is a small amount of room to place a little necklace, a flat sample, your information sticker or some small giveaway underneath the message.
These cards are small and perfect for transport to craft shows or large public displays. They measure about three inches (3") when closed. When opened the thank you cards measure six inches (6"). No card is exactly like another, but can be made to follow a common color palette. Flower styles vary from card to card to compliment paper style.
CUSTOMIZATIONS / QUESTIONS
***********************************
I love making custom orders! These cards can be made with different messages for weddings, birthdays, holidays, baby and wedding showers. Any sentiment from Congratulations to Best Friends 4 Ever are possibilities. If you can think it, I can probably make it! Just ask!
